Su Casa
Bruce Wilton may have been the 13th ABEL hire, but he was the first
person I recognized at DOA 2007... and he definitely remembered my Girlfriend.
He had a "shelf" story, but mine was much, much better.
judi used to visit my office and would often watch me work for hours in her fur coat and nothing else. One night, moments after I took a break and joined her on my couch, we heard a tremendous crash.
John Hughes had his office not ten feet away, and the shelf that ran around it's interior had given way, dumping every ABEL nut, bolt, screw, and connector across the floor.
When HUGE arrived, there was nothing judi and I could say to convince
him we'd had nothing to do with the disaster as I was the only Art
Punk working at the time.
John and I have exchanged less than 10 sentences since, but it was worth it.
Mine was the first DEATH ROW office to be split up when Randy Roberts
moved in, and ABELS was never quite the same after that.
Coming Soon: AKAI*
*31 years later, I meet
at the Solamar DOA Reunion. It is at his request, and in support
of his efforts to document and share the stories that still conjure
the ABEL magic, that I offer Su Casa - in the hopes that
others whose stories may be better than mine - will do the same.
Special thanks to Tom Beattie (who would have fit right in at ABELS) for hosting herofx.com He was there at the beginning (CO) and I think he'll be there at the end.
