| In the brave new world of
Aldous Huxley, audiences under the influence of psychotropic
drugs, sit in synaptically wired seats and experience the
Feelies; specially filmed sequences that allow one to feel
the mating of Rhinos or the birth of a star.
One of Timothy Leary's Laws
forbids keeping someone from altering their consciousness,
even while watching Fear Factor, COPS, Cheaters, or an
endless stream of "EXTREME" anything. Luckily, there
are no Feelie wired recliners and the prohibitive "costs"
of bringing them to market will probably keep it that
way, but
big budget motion pictures are another
story.
Unfortunately, you can show
the destruction of the Moon - as in the remake of The
Time Machine - only to see the real thing destroyed in
spite of your efforts to expose the folly.
